An honest, side-by-side comparison of the major options
We tested 12 popular tools across 10 common tasks. The table below summarizes the results. The full benchmarks are in the methodology section at the bottom of this page.
If you need fast, high-quality results without learning a complex tool, our service is the best fit. If you need full manual control and you are already skilled in Photoshop, Photoshop remains the gold standard. For everything in between, the right choice depends on your volume, your skill, and your budget.
We have tried to be fair. Where our service wins, we say so. Where another tool wins, we also say so. This is the comparison we wish had existed when we were choosing our own stack.

All testing was performed in Q2 2026 on a Dell XPS 15 with 32 GB RAM and an NVIDIA RTX 4070. For AI services we used a 100/100 Mbps internet connection. Each tool was tested on the same 100 sample files, covering the common scenarios: corner watermarks, centered watermarks, animated watermarks, text overlays, and damaged photos.
Quality scoring: We used a blind panel of 5 experienced retouchers who rated the results on a 1-5 scale. The reported score is the median. A score of 3 means the result is acceptable for casual use. A score of 5 means a professional retoucher could not improve on the result.
Speed scoring: We measured the wall clock time from file upload to download-ready. For tools that process locally, we measured processing time. A score of 3 corresponds to roughly one minute for a typical file. A score of 5 corresponds to under 15 seconds.
Ease of use scoring: We gave each tool to 5 first-time users and measured how many attempts they needed to produce a satisfactory result. A score of 3 means they got it on the second or third try. A score of 5 means they got it on the first try.
Disclosure: This is our own service and we are obviously biased. We have tried to compensate by reporting only measurable metrics and by including the panel ratings rather than our own opinions. Where our service scored below 5, we have reported the lower score. If you find a discrepancy, please report it and we will update.
